Human Consciousness Evolution
Humans are naturally attracted to gore, folly, drama, and outrage: if it bleeds, it leads. Why? Adrenaline.
Adrenaline is a highly addictive drug that every human can get for free because it’s created in our brains when we get excited or become afraid. Most animals have their adrenaline “fight-or-flight” moment as a natural part of survival, then go about their daily business. But humans are a bit more advanced than other animals and, at some point, subconsciously (or consciously) started loving the high of “fight or flight.” We actually CREATE stressful situations: “adrenaline addiction: creating stress to get an adrenaline rush.”
Discrimination, hatred, anger, holy wars, and violence are all born of fear, and they all induce an adrenaline dump. The sensationalist and horrifying click bait Spiritual Influencers create have the same effect. However, peaceful meditation, harmony, and love produce no adrenaline dumps, and we’re adrenaline junkies. Peace sounds nice, but we need a high.
As humans started chasing the adrenaline high, other humans got savvy to the ability to control people by utilizing the addiction as bait. Humans are prone to addictive and compulsive behavior. My protector guide, Mikhael, told me that overcoming this is a part of our spiritual and physical development as a species.
Political leaders, media outlets, spiritual leaders, and employers who feed people divisive controversy, focus on horrendous violence, and create childish drama are cleverly controlling the public by providing it with its drug of choice. The reason these violent and oppressive religions have grown to the size they have, with the velocity they have, is not due to an authentic connection with Spirit. It is simply because humans are addicted to adrenaline highs, and there are clever people who have successfully taken advantage of this addiction, justified the behavior as the will of “God”, and built an empire full of adrenaline junkies.
Endorphins and Mind Mastery
As aforementioned, my guide, Mikhael, told me that overcoming and learning to control our biological responses is a part of humankind’s spiritual evolution. The process of this evolution has begun, but it is a long process. If this evolution were a puzzle, we would have just finished putting together all the pieces along the edge of a very large puzzle, leaving an entire hollow center to put together.
Eventually, as a species, we will learn how to live in a peaceful, low-grade endorphin state. With that said, this evolution would not be possible if it had not been for our historical and current adrenaline-addiction cycle. Every fear-based adrenaline dump is frosted with endorphins, and it is this endorphin frosting that will help us know, understand, and separate the two neurochemical reactions.
This separation and recognition of the two neurochemicals is almost entirely subconscious at this time. It is important to remember that we needed to go through “ugly” stages as a species because doing so will enable us to understand that all of human history is an important step in the stairway that is our spiritual evolution. Learning to observe, but not judge, our past behaviors is an important conscious choice we must make in order to evolve.
“Endorphins interact with the opiate receptors in the brain to reduce our perception of pain and act similarly to drugs such as morphine and codeine. In contrast to the opiate drugs, however, activation of the opiate receptors by the body’s endorphins does not lead to addiction or dependence.”
Endorphins are neurotransmitters with many jobs, but overall, they decrease pain, reduce stress, and induce a general state of well-being. Although there are endorphin junkies as well as adrenaline junkies, one does not see the same addictive force with endorphins as one does with adrenaline (with respect to naturally occurring, non-drug-induced neurochemical reactions).
This is a very important distinction because future human evolution will go hand in hand with liberation: liberation from addiction, liberation from impulse, liberation from the mind. Unlike stand-alone adrenaline, endorphins come in at least 20 different varieties. Like adrenaline, endorphins are also released in response to pain and stress, but the effects are different. Adrenaline creates the fight-or-flight, animalistic effect; endorphins create the harmonious, happy effect. It’s easy to see the winner.
Although there are benefits to the momentary superhuman strength produced by adrenaline in perilous situations, we are no longer faced with perilous situations on a regular basis (bear attacks, constant war, extreme survival situations), for the most part.
With great knowledge and effort, humankind will begin to master the human brain and all its functions. We see this movement beginning in our societies now: meditation for higher endorphin release, exercise for higher endorphin release, habits to decrease adrenaline responses, and therapy or counseling for emotional control. But we are only in the beginning stages of consciously and intentionally changing our brain function.
After some time, our next big step in evolution will produce humans who can control the flow of neurotransmitters, neurochemicals, and hormones with focused intention: complete control over the mind, leading to near-complete control over brain function. We will be able to create a subtle, constant flow of endorphins, as well as produce a sudden jolt of adrenaline, if necessary, at will. However, that really will be another beginning, leading to another great human evolution.
It may seem odd to discuss biological responses in conjunction with spirituality, but the two exist symbiotically. When we see adrenaline responses decrease and endorphin releases increase, we will notice a natural human gravitation away from structured religion, definitive spiritual terms, and biased spiritual beliefs. We will adopt a benevolent, peaceful understanding of Spirit and God.
It is likely that the terms “Spirit” and “God” will cease to exist altogether and eventually be replaced with a termless, wordless knowing. Without the burden of fear and confusion, we will experience the buoyancy of love and understanding. Our lessons and experiences in primal actions and urges will be complete, and we’ll have far more time to focus on new lessons of great value: the highest expressions of love, navigating and fixing a broken Earth, and extreme mastery of the mind and body.
These lessons will be our greatest triumph, and we’ll enter a whole new era of thousands of years of higher spiritual learning.
